General History of the United States.

This collection consists of the handwritten manuscript of Trumbull's _General History of the United States_ which was published by Farrand Mallory and Company in 1810. The text and emendations were evidently written by Trumbull. The work begins with the discovery of America by Columbus and other explorers and ends with the Peace of Paris, 1763, after the French and Indian War. The major emphasis of the work is on the last one hundred years and especially concerns wars and Indian uprisings. It also gives a general overview of the settlement of America and provides sketches of some of the central historical figures of the period.
